Ronald McDonald House provides services 7 days a week, 365 days a year. While guests are free to come and go 24 hours a day, volunteer shifts are between 9 am and 9 pm. Volunteers can sign up for one of the four shifts listed below. Simply pick the time and day that best fits your schedule.

Volunteer Shift Schedule & Duties

All Shifts

Regardless of which shift you choose, there will always be an opportunity to assist guests, give tours, lend a listening ear, help provide a sense of comfort and safety in addition to general household cleaning, maintenance and organization.

9 am – 12 pm

Get the house ready for the day: make coffee, unload dishwashers and assist guests during breakfast hours. This is also the shift that takes the coffee cart to the hospital.

12 pm – 3 pm

Help with lunch preparation, assist staff at the front desk, organize and re-stock our pantry shelves.

3 pm – 6 pm

Help preparing for the evening meal by warming food, setting out dishes and making sure everything is ready for the dinner hour.

6 pm – 9 pm

Help shut everything down for the night: make sure dinner is put away, counters are cleaned, dishwashers started and appliances are turned off.

Substitute Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to act as substitute or “on-call” volunteers. This will help fill gaps for volunteers with illness, vacation time, etc.
