Celebrating 20 Years

All of us at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana are incredibly excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary in the Michiana community in 2022. This anniversary represents our love for and committment to this community that has given so much to us. We would not have reached this milestone without the support of our community and the vision and tireless effort of everyone who has helped us along the way.

In November of 2002, Kathleen and David Sparks realized their vision of bringing a Ronald McDonald Family Room to the Michiana community. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana began as a 3-bedroom Family Room located in Memorial Hospital. For 15 years, this served as a key resource in our community, but the vision was not complete. Our goal as a charity has always been to provide comfort and care to families when they need it most. As a Family Room, we simply did not have the capacity to serve every family that needed us. That capacity changed in 2017.

From 1,500 Square Feet to 15,000

Not only is this our 20th year in Michiana, but we are also celebrating our 5th year as a Ronald McDonald House. In February of 2017, our 20-bedroom House was completed and introduced in the Skyway building across from Beacon Children’s Hospital. This is where we remain today, ready to serve any family that comes through our doors. When a family is referred to us by the Hospital, we accept them with open arms. Whether their child is 21 and recovering from a car accident, a newborn receiving NICU treatments, or anywhere in between, we make it our mission to give them the comfort and care they need as they go through their most difficult moments. Throughout our entire 20-year history, we have been proud to provide all our services at no cost to families.

As we look back on the last 20 years and look forward to the future, we remain grateful to be here in this community. Michiana is our family. The care and support we receive from our fellow community members are mirrored by the care and support we seek to provide to families in need every day. We thank you for the many ways you have come alongside us in this mission over the last 20 years, and we look forward to many more years of working together to ensure that families can remain close to their children during times of need.

Home is where your family is.
