Our guests are the parents or legal guardians of a seriously ill or injured child (newborn to age 21) who is receiving medical treatment in one of the following departments:
- Newborn Intensive Care (NICU)
- Pediatric Patient Care Center
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
- Intensive Care Unit patients under 21 years old
Overnight Guests
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is an oasis that provides the comforts of home for our guests and their families. Overnight guests are referred by a social worker or nursing leadership representative, and stays are granted on a daily basis, with the following three criteria:
- Critical needs of the child
- The distance between home and the hospital
- The transportation needs of the family
Eligibility for Overnight Stay
- Single adult (over 18)
- Single parent 17 or younger accompanied by a parent/guardian
- Two married adults (over 18)
- Two married minors (under 18), as they are "emancipated minors"
- Two unmarried adults (over 21) who are cohabitating

Day Usage for the Family Room
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is open to all eligible guests for use between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Registration is required.
Maximum capacity of the Family Room is 20 individuals.
When maximum capacity is reached, only two persons per patient will be allowed. This policy applies to guests already in the room and to new visitors. This rule is not enforced when the Family Room is not crowded.
